SWIFT TEAMWORK AT JAN SEWA HOSPITAL SAVES SEIZURE VICTIM
A critical case at Tantia Medical College Hospital & Research Center (Jan Sewa Hospital), Sri Ganganagar was successfully handled by doctors after a patient’s airway became blocked during a seizure.
Neuro Physician Dr. Abhimanyu Kalra Stated that the patient, Palvinder Singh, was brought to the emergency department by his family while experiencing a severe epileptic seizure. During the episode, he bit his tongue, causing heavy bleeding. Blood accumulated in his mouth and throat, blocking his airway and making it impossible for him to breathe, putting his life in immediate danger.
Recognizing the severity, the emergency team acted quickly. Senior surgeons Dr. Mahesh K. Mohata and Dr. Vijay Hattiya assessed the situation and consulted with Dr. Kalra. They performed an emergency tracheostomy, creating an alternate airway through the neck to restore breathing.
After stabilizing the patient, he was kept under supervision and treated for epilepsy. Once he regained the ability to breathe normally through his natural airway, the temporary tracheostomy opening was closed.
Neuro Physician Dr. Abhimanyu Kalra confirmed that timely intervention and swift decision-making were crucial in saving the patient’s life.
The patient’s brother, Preetpal Singh, stated that his condition was extremely critical when he was admitted, but due to the doctors’ prompt action and expertise, he has now fully recovered.
