RARE BRAIN FLUID LEAK TREATED SUCCESSFULLY
Dainik Seema Kiran | Sri Gangangar | 14, April 2026
A patient in Sri Ganganagar was successfully treated at Jan Sewa Hospital (Dr. S.S. Tantia Medical College Hospital & Research Center) after a serious condition was initially mistaken for a common cold.
The patient, Dharampal, had fluid continuously leaking from his nose, which he believed was due to a cold. However, medical tests revealed it was cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaking from his brain—an emergency condition.
The issue was first identified by neurophysician Dr. Abhimanyu Kalra, who suspected the leak after examining reports. Neurosurgeon Dr. Dheeraj Godara, Head of the Neurosurgery Department, confirmed the diagnosis and performed surgery to stop the leak. The patient was admitted to the ICU and is now fully recovered.
According to Dharampal’s relative Vikram, the patient had suffered a spinal injury in a road accident in January, which may have contributed to the condition. When the nasal discharge did not improve after several days of cold treatment, doctors investigated further and discovered the real cause. Cerebrospinal fluid is a protective liquid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Sometimes, due to injury or other reasons, it can leak through the nose, which is a serious medical emergency.
Dr. Mohit Tantia, Vice Chairperson of Tantia University, praised the doctors for their successful diagnosis and surgery, highlighting that advanced, metro-level medical care is now available in Sri Ganganagar.
